Your Questions About 14 Year Old Bodybuilder Workout

Donald asks…

I’m afraid my mum might think I’m going to take steroids?

Now, before I start, I AM 100% OPPOSED TO DOPING IN SPORTS. NOT JUST STEROIDS, ALL DRUGS, ALCOHOL AND NICOTINE.

Moving on, I am a 14 year old male who has interests in things like free running and tricking – both of which require great physical strength. I frequently go to the gym (for all you misinformed preachers who know nothing about growth and will tell me that I’ll stunt mine, please don’t bother answering) and due to school constraints, cannot eat a large amount of solid food (not as much as I’d like to anyway) and thus, take shakes after my workout (only 3 times a week). I’m currently in the process of buying another few types of shake (one pure whey for snacks and one pure casein for bedtime).

When I bought something else at a supplement shop (EFA oil and a health bar [like a cereal bar]), the women told her that when people start buying shakes, the parents should be wary.

I have a broad knowledge of steroids and steroid protocols (this is due to my interests in medical science, and was long before I wanted to be a tricker) and I’m scared that my mother thinks I’m going to turn to steroids.

First, she hasn’t made any accusations, but due to the fact I talk about supplements a lot and she fails to understand the difference between most steroids and the vast supplement world, I’m scared she might think that soon I’ll be ‘juicin my mind out. Second, due to my imposing physique compared to hers (I’m 14 and 200 pounds at 6’0″. She is only 5’1″, and thus, people frequently think were not in the same party), people may make comments like that (I’ve heard a few joking ones) and I’m worried she may take one serious.

Do you guys think I should be worried about this? I really don’t like ANY drugs, but threes always that one stray comment you can make (“Aww god, my bench press is stuck, I need to take something” – one example. I’ve never made this statement, but I may have said something like this before without even knowing it) her suspicious.

NOTE: My cousin is a bodybuilder and my mother thinks that my obsession with endocrinology may be partly due to him. I also suffer Asperger’s syndrome and dyspraxia – and often talk about things without knowing when enough is enough.

Workout answers:

You could try explaining to her in detail the differences between regular supplements and anabolic steroids. That should help some.

Michael asks…

How much protein can my body digest/absorb at once?

I’m basically an amateur bodybuilder. I’ve been lifting weights since I was around 12-14 years old, and I’m not 25. I’ve gotten quite large muscle-wise over the general time, considering the size of my body’s build. I’m only about 5’8, weigh about 130…so I know I’m probably underweight for that category. I have a very high metabolism, so I have to eat a LOT just to maintain my current weight.

I eat a lot of chunk white tuna and pink salmon. That’s among the healthiest of foods that I’ve found, which still have a lot of protein without a ton of fat. Also having Omega-3 fatty acids, which are very good for the body. I guess my question is…how much protein can my body digest at once, after a workout or in general? I know it probably can absorb a little more after a workout, since the muscle need to recover.

I remember reading somewhere (not sure if it was true) that the body can absorb up to 40 grams of protein at a time. No ‘time’ emphasis in between the next meal was given.
So how many grams of protein can the body absorb at once? Is the 40 grams correct? I don’t want to over-eat on the protein, if my body can’t absorb over a certain amount. I know that meals should be spread out throughout the day…I usually eat somewhere around 3-6 times a day. For 4-6 times, it’s usually smaller meals. A can of tuna has about 13grams of protein in it…and I think it’s the same for salmon.
And a correction: A can of salmon actually has 32.5 grams of protein.
Sorry about the spelling mistakes, I typed this rather quickly. That was supposed to say, “And I’m now 25.” lol

Workout answers:

The body can absorb 2 Grams per hour.

I would get my diet correct and take protein shakes.
To increase mass 5 things must occur.
More calories, protein/ carb balance, heavy lifting, sleep and proper water intake.

Nothing beats healthy eating.

Concentrate on overall fitness and maintaining a healthy heart.
For best results, eat six times a day. Try balancing your meals 60% protein 40% carbs.

Eat a combination of lean protein and healthy carbohydrates every few hours throughout the day to speed up fat loss and maintain stable energy levels.
Eat your proteins from lean sources (Chicken, fish, boiled eggs, lean beef with all the fat drained off) and beans (lentil, lima, chili or any type of bean)

For your carbs, Choose leafy vegetables, carrots, raisins, broccoli and fresh fruits. Weight train intensely, three to six times per week and aerobic exercise one to three times per week.

Drink 10 to 20 glasses water per day NO SODA
Good Luck !!!

Try to dink protein shakes between your 6 meals any brand. You need to take in 500 to 1000 calories more than you burn

Carol asks…

please bodybuilders i need some help?

im a 5’9 203 lb 14 year old guy. ive been fat all my life but ive been lifting weights for 1.5 years and seriously for over 6 months. ive gone down from like 27% body fat to no more than 18%. i was wondering if i should continue to cut or just keep bulking up my muscles. i want to be big in the end but like Arnold big. and what are some fat burning exercises and super muscle building workouts. my end goal is to be at around 10% body fat and about 230 lbs or a little heavier. but my goal now is just to get down to 180 at 10% body fat
actually the after pic was taken after his heart surgery when he want allowed to exercise and when he took roids he look low dose and only during cutting fat to prevent muscle loss. and of course i dont mean exactly like him i mean as close a i can

Workout answers:

You may want to be like Arnold but you may never get there. Arnold’s a genetic freak hand-picked by Joe Weider and imported from Austria to be his poster boy and help him build his empire on lies and male vanity. Arnold took steroids to get his size too. So, if you’re a spot on mesomorph with great genes for lean muscle mass who wants to take roids, you may get to be something like Arnold.

Arnold then and now: http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l309/madmaxman/ahnold.jpg

However, a more sound goal would be to be all YOU can be naturally without illegal drugs. Bodybuilding is a thankless sport and requires a lot of hard work and sacrifice with few advantages and a lot of disappointments. Frankly, I think competitive bodybuilding is just stupid.

That said, I would suggest you watch all of Scooby’s videos. They’re fun to watch, they offer solid information, and he’s not going to try to sell you anything. And, if you can do what he does at 50 years of age, you’ll be off to a good start.

Ken asks…

I need to lose fat and gain a ton of muscle. Bodybuilders/Expert Physical Trainers please answer.?

I know people ask this a lot but they are all older :P
I’m 14 years old playing jv high school football, and i weigh about 135
I’m pretty skinny, i do have muscle but not enough
What’s a simple way for me to lose fat and gain muscle?
I already looked it up online but i don’t think im doing it right
because i only lost weight. I cut back on the sugar and im eating healthier foods, but can someone tell me in simple words what i have to do? I workout every day at football for an hour, and i still don’t think its working, i wanna get bigger in muscle, im really small compared to others at football, please help.

Workout answers:

The person who said swimming 2 hrs/5 days a week, and then run 3 miles? That’s TOO much cardio to build muscle. To build muscle you need MORE calories, and with all of that cardiovascular activity you’re losing a lot of calories..and the same applies to you, with football practice you’re burning A LOT of calories.

Also, the exercises at football aren’t all focused at gaining muscle. A large portion of it is endurance, and learning and practicing HOW to play and what to do.

My advice is, work out at the gym on days where you don’t have football practice, to avoid being too burnt out. Get in A LOT of calories and A LOT of protein (at least 1 gram per lb of body weight, that’s 135 grams/daily at a minimum for you). Eat healthy fats (nuts, olive oils) and complex carbohydrates (brown rice, pastas etc)

Advice on getting breast implants?

I was a competitive gymnasts for 6 years up until the age of 14. I had to stop due because I was too tall 5’8 and broke about everything. I am now an avid runner and strength train (not bodybuilder stuff just light).I was also diagnosed with a mild immune deficiency. I am 22 years old.
I have been considering getting breast implants (only go up to a size B) for years because i am so incredibly small, and with my workout regime i know i will never naturally get bigger, plus all the women in my family are naturally small. I have consulted a plastic surgeon before who said that because i literally have no fat on my chest area that getting breast implants may cause “rippling”. Does anyone have any suggestions i could take to feel more like a woman? Perhaps a certain type of implant that might work better over another?
Thanx

Workout answers:

Here’s some advice:

1. There are two breast implant options: Saline or Silicone. Silicone implants was banned in by the FDA before. They were banned because some women reported health problems after getting them. In 2006, the FDA announced that they were safe. It’s your choice what type of implants you want.

2. Implants do not last forever. All implants will become ruined damaged, and disfigured over time. Most women will need to replace implants after 3 or 4 years.

What happens if implants burst? Saline ones will gush out salt water. The silicone ones will gush out thick silicone gel.

3. Implants come in different sizes. They are measured by cc. (for example, implants can range from 200 cc to 400 cc). It is best to talk to your surgeon so he/she will know what type suits you best.

Do not always think that the bigger size is better. In some cases, the big implants can make your chest look fake. You do not want people to immediately think that your breasts are fake. Your surgeon will help you select a size that fits your weight and height.

4. There are different ways that breast implants can be inserted:

*nipple – surgeon cuts your nipple open and insert the implant
*under the breast- surgeon cuts under your breasts to insert implant; there are less revealing scars
*belly button- surgeon cuts your belly button and insert implant through a tunnel; this is the most risky type of insertion
*under the armpit- surgeon cuts open your armpit and insert the implant
